Millennium Green - Community

The Green is open 365, 24/7 for people to enjoy throughout the year, in all weather - clement or otherwise.

In 2019 we started to coppice hazel coupes. Coppicing is a traditional woodland management technique that dates back to the Stone Age. It involves felling trees at their base to create a ‘stool’ where new shoots will grow. You can recognise a coppiced tree by the many thin trunks or ‘poles’ at its base. We will rotate our coppicing over 7 years, to provide the community with bean poles, stakes and pea sticks.
